So I just received one of the most insulting personal rejections I've ever seen. Not insulting to me, but insulting to my story.

I was told that I should have made one of the characters in Reformatted Soul male.

Granted, I did strip out the non-binary pronouns to make the story more palatable for the market, but seriously. What the fuck?

I drew Izzy a couple of days ago, and I actually liked the way it turned out. I wish I had a scanner. I should be getting one soon, when things even out over here. Maybe I'll mail it to [personal profile] auto_destruct. Originally, I had planned to draw EDEN in there as well, but it didn't work out. So it's just Izzy, doing her morning stretches, like she do.

I think I've done the last of the edits I need to do on the piece, too, which is nice. Let it go for a bit and work on other projects. I've not been meeting my writing goals as of late, but I should be doing better now. I don't think I'll be setting such high standards for myself, though, as the next week should entail a lot of transition as I move again.

Extreme Planets Anthology looks really interesting. Even if I don't end up subbing anything there, I'd like to see if I can pick up a copy when it comes out. I'd like to get an e-reader at some point. Maybe I'll have one before then and can pick up an e-copy rather than have to lug more books around as I move from place to place. They have some interesting information on planets in the links, which was nice to dig around. Exo-planets in general are really interesting and I wish I knew more about them.

Got some sketching done. Told myself I was going to work on some Victor sketches, or possibly some Molly sketches, but I was more interested in doing some Izzy sketches once I actually sat down to draw. I really need to draw more often. I can tell how much my skill has degraded since high school. I also need to go through some basic tutorials to figure out some things, to make it look less cartoony.

Izzy is difficult to draw, considering she has severe burn scars all over the left side of her body. I think I did a decent job showing that, but I realized after I was done drawing that the burns should have been on my right side, so that they would be on Izzy's left. I don't have a scanner right now, and it was sketchy pen on lined paper, so I really have nothing to show for it. She turned out looking a lot whiter than I'd hoped. I still have difficulty defining facial features. Again, more practice.

I still need to scan and upload the picture of Victor I drew. It's probably the only thing I've been happy with wrt to drawing in the last six months or so. That's probably because I'm better at drawing gas masks than I am people, but that's not the point. I'd like to do something that's more of an action drawing of him, possibly when he's more degraded, but I'd like to actually have a pencil before I even attempt.
