it's never sunny; it's always grey

I've been revisiting older project lately, things I remember from my writing in high school and early college. Even some as far back as middle school. I don't have the actual papers anymore, but the ideas keep cropping back up. I had been playing with the idea of an old character back from... late middle school, I think. It didn't work out in the situation I put it in, so I abandoned using it in that project, discarding the character entirely for the time being.

But as I was going through playlists on iTunes last night, I realized that it was a story that should be told. The plot has changed from when I was younger. I need it to be less cliche, for starters. I need more characters. I need better turns of phrase and a clearer alien environment. Which I'm getting now. And once again, I'm happy with what I'm writing.

you treat me like a ragdoll

My faith in humanity has not been restored, but I do have my flash drive back. It "mysteriously" appeared on the table in the office, after I checked the office 3 times then had someone else check it with me, to the point of searching the trash can.

So, someone was kind enough to return it. Either they realized it wasn't worth anything to them, or they were done messing with me. Right now, it doesn't even matter. I'm just glad to have my files back. It doesn't seem like anyone tampered with them but I still feel kind of violated and sick.
